Naoko Komura is Teaching Professor of Japanese and the coordinator of the Japanese program in the FIU Department of Modern Languages. She has also been coordinator for the FIU Intensive Language and Culture in Kyoto program in the summer for over 15 years. She utilizes cross-cultural and community-engaged teaching approaches such as COIL which connects FIU students with Japanese university students and actively promotes FIU student involvement in local Japanese and Asian cultural events.
