Bio
Lindsey B. Maxwell is an Assistant Teaching Professor and the Director of Online Learning in FIU's Department of History. Specializing in American History and Digital Humanities, she investigates subjects at the nexus of religion, politics, and education. Her scholarship traces historical developments from their local origins to their global influences. Maxwell's current project traces the rise of homeschooling in the late twentieth-century United States to illuminate cultural and political impacts on twenty-first-century education. She teaches a variety of interdisciplinary courses (such as "History of South Africa," "America in the Sixties," and "History of American Conservatism") that encourage students to engage with different cultural and social movements to gain a better understanding of global issues and competing perspectives.
