Bio

Dr. Sarah Mathews uses qualitative research methods and critical theories to study citizenship education at multiple levels, including intercultural and global citizenship education. As a teacher educator, she prepares pre-service and in-service teachers for global learning through her Social Studies Education, global education, and research methodology courses. Dr. Mathews has supported FIU's Global Learning Initiatives as a member of the Global Learning Curriculum Oversight Committee (GLCOC) and as an Affiliated Faculty member for the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC). She currently oversees FIU's Global Gateways program that sends prospective and current teachers to engage in field experiences in primary and secondary classrooms abroad.
