Bio
Laura Monsalvatge, PhD, is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Early Childhood Education in the Teaching and Learning Department at FIU. She teaches two Global-learning designated courses: Family Literacy and the Young Child, and Children's Literature. These courses teach students how different cultures approach education, family reading practices, and storytelling. Her teaching practices emphasize her belief that education is the tool for societal transformation. One of her favorite quotes by Kofi Annan is, "Literacy is the road to human progress and the means through which every man, worm, and child can realize his or her full potential."
