Grisel d’Elena serves as the Program Director for Panthers Care at the Dean of Students Office overseeing student concerns at FIU. She is a trilingual interdisciplinary academic backed by a graduate education in International Relations, Religious Studies, Muslim World Studies, and Women and Gender Studies. She has performed fieldwork abroad with U.N. officials, refugee coalition members and ethnic minorities, specifically in Southeast Asia, where she began to investigate ethnic minority women and Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Grisel’s pedagogy is heavily influenced by her work on the international community’s response to the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
