Course Design and Instruction Workshop
These workshops engage participants in active global learning strategies that can then be easily implemented across the curriculum and co-curriculum. We host virtual workshops that can be completed in one day. We also host the workshop in a fully online format, where participants complete asynchronous self-paced modules in Canvas.
Workshops facilitate participants' exploration of FIU's definition of Global Learning and how they may address global learning course outcomes through:
- Interdisciplinary, problem-based approaches
- Active online and virtual learning strategies
- Multi-perspective content
- Both traditional and authentic assessments
Faculty participation in a global learning workshop is key to their designing, implementing, and maintaining fidelity to FIU's global learning student learning outcomes. FIU faculty and adjuncts who participate may be eligible to receive a stipend for attendance.
Join us for a taste of global learning with other virtual workshop attendees or experience the best online teaching strategies available as you move through the modules. We are always here to help you bring global learning to life in your own face-to-face, online live, hybrid, and fully online classes.
Workshop Stipends
Only FIU faculty and adjuncts teaching Global Learning designated courses and lead faculty developing or revising a course for Global Learning designation may receive stipends for attending workshops. *Per university policy, graduate assistants, teaching assistants, and research assistants are not eligible to receive a stipend but are encouraged to attend the workshop.
Faculty and adjuncts currently teaching a global learning designated course
Faculty and adjuncts are eligible to receive a $250 stipend for attending the entire workshop and submitting a completed Global Learning Course Assessment Matrix. Participants are asked to submit the matrix at the end of the first semester they teach a Global Learning course after they attend the workshop. Instructions for matrix submission provided during the workshop.
Faculty developing a proposal for a new or revised course for global learning designation
Faculty may receive a $250 stipend for attending the workshop and submitting a Global Learning course proposal to the Faculty Senate Global Learning Curriculum Oversight Committee (GLCOC). We highly recommended that draft proposals be submitted to OGLI staff for feedback prior to submission to a department, school, or college curriculum committee.
Faculty and adjuncts are eligiable to recieve each stipend once after completing the Global Learning workshop.
