2019 Transformation Contest
Experience global careers in D.C.!
Open to All FIU Undergraduate Students
Every person experiences moments of transformation that forever change the way we see ourselves, our community, our world. This contest asks you to think deeply about your own international or intercultural transformational experiences. What’s more, it challenges you to inspire others by sharing your experience via artistic or informational media. These media include but are not limited to:
Selected students will participate in a guided trip to visit various federal government agencies and nongovernmental organizations during Late April/Early May, 2019*!
The trip will include several informational and networking sessions at federal government agencies and nongovernmental organizations. The agenda for this year is still being finalized, but some of the visits we have made in the past three years include:
- U.S. Department of State
- Peace Corps
- Oxfam America
- FHI 360
- FIU Office of Federal Relations
- U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants
- Global Communities
- World Bank Group
ENTRIES FOR THE 2019 CONTEST WILL BE ACCEPTED BEGINNING MID-FALL 2018. Please check back at that time for the submission link. If you have questions, contact Eric Feldman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Communicate your tranformational, international or intercultural experience via artistic or informational media. Written works, such as essays and stories, must be limited to 2 printed pages. Audiovisual entries must be limited to 4 minutes. Longer entries will not be evaluated.
On the submission form, you will be able to provide an optional explanation of your work if desired, and you will be able to indicate if your entry requires a physical piece of art or a performance to be evaluated in person.
Works will be judged by a panel of 5 FIU faculty and staff members. They will rate and rank work based on a rubric measuring the clarity, creativity, and power of the submission’s message.
*The total number of selected students and the length of the trip is dependent on available funding. In previous years, 2 to 4 students have been selected as winners, and the trip has ranged from 1 to 2 nights.
