Scholarships
Rupert L. Lyn Scholarship
Established by a Global Learning Medallion alumna, the purpose of this scholarship fund is to support students pursuing the FIU Global Learning Medallion to be able to complete a capstone project: globally focused research, internship, fellowship, study abroad, or language study.
Bob Farrell Scholarship
Established in honor of a founding FIU faculty member, this scholarship supports students pursuing globally focused research and practice in sustainable development, particularly students enrolled in the Peace Corps Prep or Global Learning Medallion programs.
Gilman Scholarship
The U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers over 3,600 scholarships of up to $5,000 allowing U.S. undergraduates to complete a study or internship abroad program. Applications are open twice per year.
LACC OGLI Research
The Office of Global Learning Initiatives and the Kimberly Green Latin American & Caribbean Center offer Global Learning Medallion students the opportunity to conduct research relevant to Latin America and/or the Caribbean under the mentorship of a faculty member. Critical Language Scholarship Program
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities the opportunity to learn languages essential to the United States' engagement with the world. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages in an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program.
Office of Scholarships
Annually, the Office of Scholarships at FIU offers prestigious scholarship awards to cover graduate tuition, fees, room and board. These awards include the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, the Udall Undergraduate Scholarship, and the Truman Scholarship.
Fellowships
Global Learning Fellowship
The annual Global Learning Student Fellowship provides undergraduate students with resources to conduct research and innovative engagement projects that increase their global awareness, global perspective, and global engagement.
Millennium Fellowship
The Millennium Fellowship is one-semester program that convenes, challenges, and celebrates undergraduate student leadership. It is sponsored by the Millennium Campus Network and the United Nations Academic Impact. Millennium Fellows develop and implement community-based action plans addressing one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute - Global Leaders Program
The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute - Global Leaders Program is a semester-long internship program that places students in Congressional and corporate legislative affairs offices. Students gain educational and hands-on experience with project-based public policy programs. The program takes place every spring and fall semester.
RESULTS Fellowship
The RESULTS Organizing and Advocacy Fellowship (formerly REAL Change) is a hands-on training program for young people who are ready to become the next generation of advocates fighting poverty. During the year-long program, fellows learn how to work with policymakers, the media, and their communities to create change.
Special programs
Transformation Contest
For this contest, students share a transformative global learning experience via any artistic or informational media they choose. Winners of this contest participate in an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C., where they meet with leaders in federal government agencies, think tanks, and non-profit organizations.
The Talent Lab at FIU in DC
The Talent Lab at FIU in DC is a comprehensive program to support FIU students seeking to make an impact on the national stage. The program connects you to DC related internships, workshops, networking opportunities, and more. Highlights of this program include DC Fly Ins and the Hamilton Scholars program.
Public Leadership Education Network
The Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) prepares college women for leadership in the public policy arena. PLEN seminars give students valuable access to women leaders in Washington, D.C. from the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector.
