FIU has entered a new era of reduced state support. The sustained success of FIU’s landmark Global Learning for Global Citizenship initiative can only be ensured through private support of its teaching, research, and engagement activities.
FIU Global Learning empowers every undergraduate with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives they need to become fully engaged and informed global citizens. FIU graduates will positively impact the future of South Florida, the nation, and the world at large through your generous support.
A gift of $1,000 will enable one student to bring to life a global engagement service project by funding necessary materials and supplies. Peace Corps Prep students carry out global engagement projects in the areas of health, education, youth development, economic development, and environmental preservation.
A gift of $2,000 will provide two students with the opportunity to attend our annual global learning trop to Washington, D.C. On this trip, students are introduced to careers in international development and foreign service through personalized visits to various federal agencies and nongovernmental organizations.
A gift of $5,000 will sponsor a one week cultural mentorship program. In a program guided and supported by Global Learning, FIU students develop, plan, and lead mentorship workshops for young South Florida residents that introduce them to the history and heritage of their cultural backgrounds. This program partners with specific schools, summer camps, and tutoring programs to add a missing cultural element to academic tutoring and summer activities.
A gift of $10,000 will fund the travel cost for four students to participate in undergraduate fellowship positions with two of our partner organizations: RESULTS, advocating for poverty reduction programs in Washington, D.C., and bluEnergy, implementing sustainable energy programs in Nicaragua.
Creating your Legacy through an Endowment
Endowed gifts provide a steady income stream to stimulate new ideas, provide student scholarships and faculty fellowships, improve program quality and encourage innovative research collaborations.
By creating an endowment and investing in the future of FIU Global Learning, donors can make a difference that will last beyond their lifetimes. For the donor, endowing an annual program, innovative research, or student scholarships provides a concrete, permanent link to the continued academic success and research excellence of Global Learning for Global Citizenship.
Endowed gifts will enable FIU to sustain and enhance its leadership role in international research and engagement.
Endowed gift commitments may be paid over a multi-year period.
