Bio

Jhonery is a Senior Program Coordinator at the Office of Global Learning Initiatives. She supports on co-curricular programs including Peace Corps Prep and Tuesday Times Roundtable. Originally from Venezuela, she is a two-time alumni from FIU earning her a Bachelor's in Hospitality Management, and Master's in International & Intercultural Education. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Teaching and Learning with a track on Curriculum, Culture and Social Studies. Her passion for international education emerged during her undergraduate career when she participated in two short-term study abroad programs that fueled her interest into this field. 

Jhonery has contributed to the field of International Education by supporting international students in her roles as International Student Advisor and G1Y Academic Advisor II. She also has led and supported student engagement activities, community engagement programs, and programming outreach initiatives by presenting at conferences and webinars promoting global engagement through the lenses of volunteer work with organization such as FAIE, NAFSA, AAC&U and EducationUSA. Jhonery has a vast variety of experiences collaborating with nonprofit organizations, fostering global awareness initiatives, and she believes in the power of global engagement as an avenue that transcend borders.
